The adventure book for the gallery has been split into 5 narratives; two we have written as a group and then one each. From this we have been able to organise the narratives into a book and we took it to the gallery to work from it further. From experiencing fellow class mates struggle with directions we have decided to make them clearer and more concise and included a map so the piece of work can be referenced to the map, making the book easier to understand and navigate.

During my time at the gallery I was able to work on my directions; making them easier to understand. I also discovered I was unhappy with the quality of my personal narrative and the two others I had input on and so I used the time at the gallery to note down specifics of the pieces of work I was using – such as graffiti on the Sunset from a Motorway Flyover and detailing of materials, for example the use of Whitby jet in the mourning jewellery. My hope is to make my written work have more depth by using more specific information.

Another element I wish to expand on is the use of other texts. It was suggested to us early in the process to use other pieces of written work, such as novels or poetry, in order to give our work more texture. I have so far incorporated some poetry and a brief quote but I feel my work would benefit from the inclusion of more. I have spent some time looking at the works from the gallery I am interested in and have been researching various poets, playwrights and authors to see what I could include. I have been particularly interested in writers who have links to Lincoln and Lincolnshire, in hope to make the narratives link with the area also. Bernard Samuel Gilbert is a poet and writer I have taken an interest in who writes poems in Lincolnshire dialect and I feel omitting him would be a mistake for the site specific work. Lord Tennyson is another poet/writer I am interested in as he was born in Lincolnshire also. I am hoping the use of local written work will potentially bring a new perspective on some of the works in the gallery.

From this point, in order to develop the work, I have been tasked with rewriting my narratives, researching and incorporating other written work and organising the order of the book to help it flow smoothly and make it easier to use.
